Rescue Line is changing, with a new division structure in 2026!
We are making some exciting changes to the competition to work towards aligning our upper divisions more closely with the international level of RoboCup Junior, and taking this opportunity to restructure our current Secondary and Open divisions to help students better transition from Primary to Secondary and then into Open, providing a clearer development pathway while preparing advanced teams for the challenges of global competition.
Our Riley and Primary divisions will continue to focus on building strong foundations in robotics, problem-solving, and teamwork, ensuring younger students develop the essential skills they need for future success. In the Secondary division, students will now have the flexibility to choose between two rescue approaches: the familiar control-and-push method or the more advanced lift-and-place technique. This gives students the opportunity to explore higher-level strategies earlier, helping them build confidence as they progress towards Open-level challenges.
The most significant update is the restructure of the Open division. Our new Open division will introduce the rescue end zone from the current RCJA International rules. Teams will now be expected to navigate a rescue zone with walls as boundaries, looking for smaller victims to pick up and drop into the appropriate rescue zones.

Stay tuned for our 2026 rules to be released in early 2026 so you can get the full details and prepare your teams and robots for the 2026 season.
