Hunter Region 2022- Competition and Workshops

Just a quick post, in regards to the Hunter Region and Central Coast Competitions. Due to the ongoing and uncertain situation poised by COVID-19, this years will be combined and hosted virtually.

Competition Date: 4th August 2022


Competition Format: Online

Overview of Competition:

Competition to be run online, with more details to come.

OnStage (Novice/Open):

  • Submitted Video Performance. Marked and uploaded to our YouTube channel.

Rescue Line (Primary/Secondary):

  • Aims and Programming will be the same, as per standard rules, objective rescuing the can out of the chemical spill etc.
  • We will Zoom in with the students at a set time, run through a set course with them, and score the run.
  • The Course can be printed in advance (consisting of different patterns on many A3 Sheets of Paper, from the standard tileset) and taped to the ground.
  • The course patterns will be sent out, the day before the competition to all registered participants/mentors.
  • Live Streamed to our YouTube channel

Rescue Maze:

  • Submit code for a standard robot build, which we will run live at the venue, upon standard rules of the competition.
  • Live streamed to our channel on YouTube.

Soccer:

  • Submit code for a standard robot build, which we will run live at the venue, upon standard rules of the competition.
  • Live streamed to our channel on YouTube.

All participation awards/medals/trophies will be posted to the mentor at the school address.


We encourage all students to actively work towards an entering the competition, and openly invite students outside of the region to enter, by submitting their work in lines with the rules of the competition.

Workshops:
Expressions of Interest in Hosting a Workshop:
As part of our generous funding, from the James Kirby Foundation, we are calling on schools who have a Low-SES/Rural cohort in the Hunter Region and Central Coast to submit expressions of interest (EOI) to:

Upon successful selection of a host school, we offer a 1 day course Introduction to Robotics Course, facilitated by our partners, SMART Program from the University of Newcastle.
